Preparation
- Prepare cake mix according to package directions. Using 4 different colors of cupcake liners, bake in 9 of one color, 5 of another, 3 of another, and 1 of the last. Fill the baking cups 3/4 full. Bake at 350 degrees for 18 minutes. Set aside and let cool.
- Once cool, frost generously. Then stack in tiers. You can get creative depending on what serving dishes you have, but it's easiest if you start on a flat surface and turn a bowl or round plastic storage container upside-down, spread the first layer of cupcakes around it, place the next layer on top of the container, then the remaining two layers on top of those cupcakes.
- Then decorate with candies that match the paper cups.
Cook's Notes
It's a little flimsy so it's best to bake and frost in advance but wait until the last minute to stack and decorate.
