Preparation
- Lightly brown meat, season to taste with salt and pepper, drain. Add to crock pot.
- Add Ranch style beans, drained pinto beans, tomatoes, green chiles, and a small amount of water to the crock pot. Stir, then slowly add chili powder and cumin to taste, one at a time. Adjust salt content as necessary.
- Cover and cook on high for about 6 hours, checking and stirring occasionally. Before finished, add a few spoonfuls of potato flakes to very slightly thicken (add slowly, stir, and wait to see how thick it gets before adding more ... it's more to add a starch componet to the mix for flavor enhancement rather than to thicken).
- Serve with fresh chopped jalapenos and onions on the side.
Cook's Notes
Serve with cold Negro Modelo and lime!

Comment: I made this on the stove and it only took about a half hour to cook. I also used MorningStar's Meal Starter's Grillers Recipe Crumbles so it was even less cook time since I didn't have meat to cook. Throw the Crumbles into the pot like you would if you had already cooked the meat. |
