Amish-Style Ham Balls

Amish-Style Ham Balls

My family loves Amish Country - great food & a simple lifestyle. Now you can have a mini-Amish vacation at home with little time in the kitchen.

We recommend using the following branded ingredients for this recipe:

Bob Evans Italian Sausage

C&H Brown Sugar

Contadina Bread Crumbs (10 oz.)

Dole Crushed Pineapple (8 oz.)

McCormick Ground Mustard

  • 1 egg(s)
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 1/2 lb. ground ham
  • 1/2 pound Bob Evans Italian Sausage
  • 3/4 cup C&H Brown Sugar
  • 3/4 cup Contadina Bread Crumbs (10 oz.)
  • 1 can Dole Crushed Pineapple (8 oz.)
  • 1 tbsp. McCormick Ground Mustard

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

  2. Combine ground pork & ground ham in a bowl (I prefer a mixer) with egg, breadcrumbs, and milk. Once thoroughly mixed, form into approximately 1 inch balls and place into a 9x13 baking dish.

  3. Place in oven for 20 minutes. As ham balls begin to cook, combine crushed pineapple, suger, and dry mustard in a saucepan over low heat. Continue over low heat, stirring occasionally, reduce until thickened, like gravy.

  4. After the ham balls have been in the oven for 20 minutes, place pineapple glaze over them, and return to the oven for another 20 minutes.

  5. Remove from oven, let stand about 5 minutes before serving.

Cook's Notes

I often chop my own pork, ham, and pineapple in the food processor, as I find the flavor more robust. I often serve this dish with white rice and green beans or asparagus (depending on the season). Corn bread goes quite well with it, too.
